Franz Schubert - Erlkonig

Today's music is Schubert's Erlkonig. Erlkonig means the Devil.
18-year-old Franz Schubert was written based on Goethe's poem inspired the Danish legend.

슈베르트 마왕(Franz Schubert - Erlkonig)

오늘의 음악은 슈베르트의 마왕입니다^^
18살의 슈베르트가 덴마크 전설에 바탕을 두고 만든 시를 보고 영감을 얻어 만들었다고 합니다.

덴마크의 이야기속의 마왕은 곧 죽을 사람의 눈에만 보이는 사람이라고 합니다. 어느 날 말을 타고 달리는 아버지의 품 속에 아들이 겁에 질린 목소리로 아버지에게 마왕이 자신을 부르고 있다고 말합니다. 아버지는 겁에질린 아들을 안고 빠르게 말을 몰아 집에 도착하지만 아들은 이미 세상을 떠나 있었다는 내용입니다.

드보르작 유모레스크(Antonin Dvorak, Humoresque)

어딘가 여행을 떠나고 싶은 날입니다. 이런 날에는 이국적인 보헤미안적 민속 음악과 선율이 돋보이는 드보르작의 유모레스크를 듣습니다. 이 곡을 들으면 매일 앉아있는 똑같은 의자에서 매일 마주보는 책상을 보고 있어도 멀리 타국에 와있는 느낌이 들게 만들어 줍니다.

안토닌 레오폴드 드보르작(Antonín Leopold Dvořák, 1841년 9월 8일~1904년 5월 1일)은 체코의 가난한 가정에서 태어났지만, 그의 능력을 알아본 리만(Antonin Liemann)선생님께서 그의 부모님을 설득해 음악을 시작하게 되었습니다. 후에 그는 음악가로서 성공을 거두고, 미국으로 건너가 흑인이나 인디언 음악의 영향을 받아 흑인의 애수와 보헤미안의 향수를 담은 명작들을 만들어 냅니다. 그 대표적인 예가 [신세계로부터]와[아메리카]가 있습니다.

원래의 이곡은 세도막 형식으로 피아노를 위해 작곡한 곡이였으나 근레에는 바이올린 곡으로 더 유명해졌습니다. 유모레스크의 의미는 19세기 기악곡의 명칭으로 유머와 변덕스러운 요소를 지닌 곡을 뜻합니다. 드보르작은 총 8편이 작곡되었는데 이곡은 그중 7번째 곡이라고 합니다.

Elgar, Pomp and Circumstance Marches, op. 39

에드워드 엘가 (Edward Elgar, 1857.6.2~1934.2.23)는 피아노 조율사였던 아버지밑에서 태어나 거의 독학으로 음악을 배웠지만 1899년 발표한 <수수께끼 변주곡>으로 음악가로 인정받게 됩니다. 그리고 지금은 영국의 국민 작곡가로 불리우게 됩니다.

엘가의 위풍당당행진곡은 1번부터 5번까지 있으나, 1번이 가장 유명합니다. 본래의 작곡 목적은 당시 영국 국왕이엇던 에드워드 7세의 대관식 행진곡에 쓰기 위해 만들어 졌고, 제목인 "위풍당당(Pomp and Circumstance)"은 셰익스피어의 오셀로에서 따온 것이라고 합니다.

2. Fantasia 2000 - Pomp and Circumstance - Marches 1, 2, 3 and 4

월트 디즈니의 영화 판타지아(Fantasia)에서는 엘가의 위풍당당 행진곡을 배경으로 도널드 덕의 애니매이션을 만들었습니다. 1940년 디즈니에서 처음으로 판타지아를 만들었을 때는 도널드 덕이 등장하는 이 엘가의 곡이 빠져있었지만, 2000년의 판타지아에는 위풍당당행진곡이 추가되었습니다.
